If you want to transfer your Quicken files from your PC to your new Mac, you need to prepare the old files for that process. Anyway something else to consider.If you chose a Mac instead of a PC when you purchased a new computer, you may need to make some adjustments to import your files. Would probably be a big job unless there were few transactions. You could then go back and create new add transactions with proper cost and purchase data for each lot. Then the new accounts would start with opening balances via add share transactions and there would be placeholders reflecting fact that cost basis data is missing. Another approach could be to just add the accounts from one file into the other as new accounts and download. I have only done test rebuilds of a single file, so merging two files is not something I have done in the past. You just wouldn't have to worry about introducing duplicates in the existing accounts since there is no overlap, but common stocks between the two groups could cause a headache. You would still need to do the exports and then the imports and then potentially a lot of cleanup.

I recently purchased Quicken for my windows computer. I have always typed in my expenses and deposits manually. Is there or is there not an way to Merge Accounts? I have used Quicken for years. We have dealing with this forever and ongoing in dealing with Quickin Customer Service trying to get answers to this. Or spltting transactions etc to try and Balance multiple accounts is endlessly frustrating. Constantly "moving" transactions inevitably is rediculous. This causes Quicken to cause new accounts to be set up and no way for us to make quicken realize this is all one "account".
